Symbian Ready

Symbian Ready is a technology validation program that helps partners make the most of Symbian OS technologies and develop solutions in the most efficient way. It is an exclusive program for members of the Symbian Partner Network.

Symbian Ready provides the tools and guidance to drive quality improvements in the design and development of products, solutions and services for Symbian OS, ensuring that customers benefit from the highest quality solutions and that Symbian Partner Network members have the opportunity to showcase the quality of their solutions to key decision makers in the mobile space.

There are currently two routes to Symbian Ready validation:

• AUTO: partners self-validate against specified Symbian Ready criteria for specific technology areas.
• VERO: Symbian validates partner solutions against Symbian Ready test criteria for specific functionality.

The validation type will be specified by the Symbian Ready program for each technology area.

Clear benefits

Symbian Ready drives improvements in the quality of ecosystem solutions, ensuring simplicity, scalability and best-practice, offering clear benefits to licensees and operators. With Symbian Ready, manufacturers of handsets based on Symbian OS have an objective measure of the quality of ecosystem offerings, to support faster partner selection and improved time-to-market. Network Operators also have valuable information on the quality of ecosystem offerings when selecting partners for operator value-added customisation.

Symbian Ready AUTO

Symbian Ready AUTO consists of Symbian publishing best practice criteria for specific technology areas which partners then use to self-validate their solutions. In this strand, the partner completes and submits a compliance specification document to Symbian and the solution is then jointly promoted as Symbian Ready AUTO. Symbian Ready AUTO is free of charge.

Symbian Ready VERO

Symbian Ready VERO begins with Symbian publishing detailed test specifications for functional areas, and then verifying the partner’s solution. Once Symbian is satisfied that the solution has met the required criteria, the partner is able to use the Symbian Ready logo to jointly promote it as Symbian Ready VERO. Symbian Ready VERO carries a fixed cost for each technology area.
